Art exhibition "2nd Revelation" by French artist Raphael Labro was inaugurated last Thursday 12th of June 2008 by Dr Mario de Marco at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta in presence of the Director of the Alliance Francaise and the President of the Tempra Academy. Dr de Marco spoke impressively about the works of Labro who lives in Gozo with his family and then declared himself delighted that over the years the Tempra Academy and the Malta International (105 Nations) Art Biennale had helped Malta to become an international centre for the Arts as well a taking Maltese Art overseas.
He was proud to welcome the presence of the "top Abstract Art" Maltese artist Alfred Chircop ( First Prize recipient Award US$ 10,000 - for Painting at the 1995 Malta Art Biennale created by Dame Francoise Tempra). He also praised Paul Haber the extraordinary ceramist-sculptor, recipient of numerous awards including the latest in March 2008, in France, for the "La SuBrealite du Monde" competition, at the Centre Culturel Christiane Peugeot. It is at this venue ,in the heart of Paris , 62 Avenue de la Grande Armee, that the 2008 Tempra Academy will take place 15th to 31st July when Labro will exhibit his "Gloriana, Gate to Atlantis"exhibition, in Hall 1, while the international show (23 nations including 18 Maltese artists) will be exhibited in the other parts of the Centre.
The latest Labro exhibition at the MCC in Valletta is open daily Monday to Saturday, in Cotoner Hall and the artist will meet interested art collectors at the exhibition.
Here Labro re-opens the book long shut and declares that now is the time of Reawakening of understanding..., the portal to the future. Showcasing an intriguing blend of styles, highlighting his versatility of mind and talent we see past, present and future in different aspects. Abstracted images of mankind. The colors laid in bold strokes of red and gold with an intense depth that speaks to the turbulence of our history. The boldly displayed Third Eye, peering out at us. We are held entranced by the unwavering wisdom and love. Understated but immensely powerful at the same time.
Revelation, the exhibition is open to the public until 19th May 2008 from 8a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St Ursula Hall, Cittadella Art Centre next to the Museum of Archeology, Citadel, Victoria, Gozo Labro's Revelation is "on tour", the next venue being the credible and majestic Cotoner Hall, MCC in Valletta, Malta from 12th - 21st June 2008 (Mon – Sat, 11 am to 4 pm & Sun 11 am - 1 pm.)
For Raphael Labro Fund Raising Art Exhibition, it is important to give something back to Gozo island and therefore he will help a major cause, the Tree 4 Gharb environmental project. Noting the importance of creating the right environment for his children, the children of Gozo and Malta, and on a larger scale as his art expresses, the children of the entire world. As he so firmly believes, "Planting a tree is the simplest action for our future survival."
